My main focus in lab is isolating and characterizing novel bacteriophage on the hosts Brevibacterium fuscum and Kokuria species from environmental samples. In addition to phagehunting I’ve been involved in the investigation of the unique cluster V mycobacteriophages. Specifically, conducting mass spec to investigate the authenticity of predicted proteins found in bioinformatics analysis.

Kathleen is a class of 2018 microbiology major, following graduation she hopes to attend grad school and pursue a career in public health.
