Many different bacteriophages can infect the same host cell. When large numbers of several types of phages are present in the environment, different phages have to compete to infect the host cell. My project begins to explore this competition in a laboratory environment, by placing the same amounts of two different phages in the same culture of M. smegmatis. The goal of the project is to gather information about which phages are able to outcompete others.
